Incessant rains in Arunachal Pradesh are heavily bearing down on the work of the Lower Subansiri Hydropower project. Yesterday night the guard wall of the power house broke down.
Prior to this yesterday, a portion of tunnel number 2 of the NHPC caved in. With incessant rains in neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh, the situation has become worrying with water flowing over the power project dam.

The point to note here is that 90 percent of the construction work for the power project has been completed by the NHPC.
However, the current situation still shows that the power project is at risk due to the heavy inflow of rain water from Arunachal Pradesh. Local groups are appealing to the centre to look into the matter and avoid any possible disaster.
