Arunachal Pradesh GST (Amendment) Bill 2025 Passed, Set to Boost Revenue and Ease Business Compliance

Arunachal GST (Amendment) Bill: Key provisions include ITC verification, simplified return filing, and stricter measures to curb tax evasion.
The Arunachal Pradesh Goods & Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025 (GST Amendment Bill), was successfully passed on the fourth day of the 8th Legislative Assembly’s ongoing session.
This significant reform aims to boost revenue generation while easing compliance for small businesses.
Key provisions include improved Input Tax Credit (ITC) verification, simplified return filing, and stricter measures to curb tax evasion.
Taking to X, Chief Minister Pema Khandu thanked all Honourable Members for their unanimous support in passing the Arunachal GST (Amendment) Bill. He also thanked legislators for endorsing the Motion of Thanks on the Hon. Governor Lt. Gen. KT Parnaik Ji (Retd.)’s speech, delivered on the Assembly’s first day. The motion was moved by Hon. MLA Dr. Mohesh Chai and seconded by Hon. MLA Shri Jikke Tako.
This legislative progress aligns Arunachal Pradesh’s tax framework with national policies, promoting sustainable economic growth.
It needs to be mentioned that, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who also holds the tax & excise portfolio, presented the bills on 6 March.
Earlier, Arunachal Pradesh government has announced a substantial wage hike for 35,674 contingent employees, Auxiliary Labor Corps (ALCs), and casual workers, effective from April 1, 2025.
According to the revised wage structure, unskilled workers will now earn between Rs 18,000 and Rs 30,000 per month, based on their years of service, while skilled workers will receive between Rs 19,000 and Rs 31,000.
The new pay scale is divided into 6 categories based on tenure, with employees who have served for over 25 years seeing the most significant increase.
The annual financial impact of the wage revision is estimated to be Rs 268 crore, which will be accommodated within the state’s budget, the Deputy CM said.
In addition to the wage revision, the government has introduced a one-time retirement benefit under the newly launched ‘Arunachal Karmayogi Samman Nidhi’ scheme.
