Amid the continued stand-off along the inter-state border, Assam chief minister Himanta Sarma has assured that not an inch of Mizoram land will be encroached upon by Assam.

Sarma said he is willing to discuss and settle the border problem at the earliest and has also written to Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga for satellite survey of the boundary position and maintenance of complete peace and normalcy in the disputed area.

Sarma also went on to say that central police forces should be given the charge of guarding the interstate border. Sarma also acknowledged the fact that Assam is constructing a road well within its constitutional boundary and not an inch of Mizoram land will be touched during the construction.

Meanwhile, CM Sarma’s reaction comes after a suspected blast was carried out on the Mizoram side on the wee hours of Sunday. The CRPF personnel deployed at Khulichera area were immediately asked to inquire into the suspected blast.

According to police, two back to back explosions took place on Sunday along the Assam-Mizoram interstate border.
