Indian Railways to restart passenger train services from Tuesday

The Indian Railways will resume passenger trains operations from tomorrow. This comes as India inches towards the end of the third phase of the countrywide lockdown to fight COVID-19.
Starting from tomorrow, the Railways is planning to operate 15 trains to begin with. These trains will run as special special trains from New Delhi to 15 destinations – Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneshwar, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central Ahmedabad and Jammu Tawi.
The trains scheduled to start from tomorrow will be air-conditioned and the fares will be similar to the Rajdhani Express fares. Bookings for reservation in these trains have already started from 4 pm today.
Tickets can be purchased by the passengers only via IRCTC website or IRCTC mobile app.
Ticket booking counters at Railway Stations shall remain closed and there will be no provision for tatkal or premium tatkal.
Only passengers with valid confirmed tickets will be allowed to enter the Railway Stations. No platform tickets will be issued.
It will be mandatory for passengers to wear mask and undergo screening at departure and only asymptomatic passengers will be allowed to board trains.
Moreover, special trains taking lakhs of stranded migrant workers back home during coronavirus lockdown will now run t full capacity.
The capacity of passengers in each special train should be equal to the number of sleeper berths on the train.
The Railways has operated 302 Shramik Special trains since May 1 and ferried home more than 3 lakh migrants stranded in various parts of the Country.
