Intensifying the demand for a NRC in the state, the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) members barged into the secretariat compound and shouted slogans demanding immediate implementation of NRC in the state.
The members shouted slogans and displayed placards before they were moved by the police to the Additional Secretariat parking lot.
The General Secretary of HYC, Roy Synrem said that they were unhappy with the way the state government was handling the issue of influx.
Synrem said that the protest was stage to show their disappointment and demand for stringent legislation and implementation of NRC in the state.
The move by the HYC can be seen as another security breach in the secretariat complex.
According to the SP, East Khasi Hills the members of the HYC pretended to be public entering the secretariat compound in two small group and once in took out the placards that were hidden and started shouting slogans.
