GMC says did fogging, covered drains with net to stop mosquitos; Guwahatians says will get Nobel for such innovative ideas

GMC's decision to fog and cover the drains and Mora Bharalu river with a nylon net mesh to control mosquitos amid the IPL matches in the city and visiting guests
The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) conducted a fogging exercise and also covered the Bharalu river with a blue tarpaulin to keep the big fat Guwahati mosquitos at bay. The Corporation did all these to ensure that the guests, the visiting IPL teams and all the other dignitaries including stars like Preity Zinta who are in the city enjoy their stay without getting bitten by mosquitos.
But this definitely did not go down well with the Guwahatians. The reactions to the GMC tweet was a mixed bag. While some lashed out at GMC for neglecting the tax paying residents of Guwahati and thinking about the ‘guests’ only, many responded in a vary sarcastic manner, while there were some who appreciated what the Corporation had done and lauded GMC for the fogging exercise.
That is not all. There were some hilarious reactions like the one that loosely translates to ‘never saw a mosquito net being used to cover a drain’. This was in response to GMC using the nylon net to cover the drains and the Mora Bharalu river which are the perfect breeding places for mosquitos because of the filth and garbage that the drains and the Mora Bharalu river is filled with.
On April 6, GMC tweeted: ” GMC is trying to ensure that our guests aren’t bothered by the mosquito menace.”
Here are some of the interesting tweets in response to GMC’s tweet:

Sabbash GMC !! My love and bow to you for your marvelous management skills.
Thats a great thought and effort at your end. But as they say. Charity Begins at Home
Gmc will get Nobel for this great innovation in mosquito controlling.
