Congress Rajya Sabha MP and chief whip Bhubaneswar Kalita, who resigned from the party on Monday has joined BJP on Friday.

Kalita, a five time MP, had resigned from the membership of the House on Monday opposing the party’s stand on the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

It may be mentioned here that another Rajya Sabha MP from Assam, Sanjay Singh, had recently resigned from the Upper House as well as the Congress party. He joined the BJP the very next day.
