In a first, a modern air-conditioned fish retail outlet was inaugurated by the Assam forest, environment and fisheries minister Parimal Suklabaidya on Thursday at the premises of Fisheries Development Department in Assam’s Barak Valley.
Taking to Twitter after the inauguration, Suklabaidya wrote, “Inaugurated the first of it’s kind premium fish retail outlet ‘Macher Majlish’ in DFDO campus, Silchar initiated under the Department of Fisheries which will provide & deliver quality hygienic local fishes through delivery vehicles which were also launched today.”
The fisheries minister inaugurated the first of its kind retail outlet – ‘Macher Majlish’ in Silchar, whereby an initiative has been taken by the fisheries department to ensure that fresh fish is delivered to customers in proper hygienic conditions.
The concept also includes a delivery service, where fish would be delivered to people’s doorsteps once customers call up at a designated number and place their orders. A delivery service network has also been set up in this regard.
During the inauguration, Parimal Suklabaidya handed over bike keys to the delivery guys commencing the launch of the programme. The event saw the participation of Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul, DC Keerthi Jalli among others.
