Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to visit poll bound Assam on Feb 6

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to visit Assam on February 6 and address the tea garden community of the state. This was informed by Health and Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday.

Sitharaman will distribute Rs. 3000 each to 8 lakh tea garden workers with an expense of Rs. 240 crores at an event to be held in Guwahati.

“Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharman will address a large gathering of tea garden workers on February 6th,” Sarma said.

The Union Finance Minister will also allocate Rs 240 crores under the Direct Benefit Transfer or DBT scheme, through which over 8 lakh labourers in the state will be directly benefitted.

“Sitharaman will release a total of Rs 240 crores under the DBT scheme developed by the state government. The scheme will benefit over 8 lakh tea garden workers,” he added.
