An encounter was launched at Kapu village in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh against cadres suspected to be of the NSCN-IM.
The encounter was launched around 6 pm yesterday when security forces and Tirap Police received inputs about movement of around 12-15 cadres, suspected to be of the NSCN-IM, in the area.
The operation was launched immediately and a gun battle followed.
As per inputs, The 6 Assam Rifles which is conducting the operation along with the Tirap Police had called in for reinforcements and cordoned off the area so that the rebels cannot sneak out of the location which is around 25 kms from Khonsa, the district headquarters of Tirap district.

Security forces are still continuing operations.
Meanwhile, all possible entry and exit points have also been sealed by the security forces.
As per reports, around 12 to 15 militants who had recently entered Arunachal Pradesh from Nagaland are held up in the area.
A fierce exchange of fire had taken place last evening between both sides however there is no report of any casualty so far.
