The key responsibility of the AI tutor will be using xAI’s specialised software to label and categorise information.

Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has revealed an exciting new opportunity for individuals to become AI tutors. While the job might sound highly technical, it’s designed to be approachable. As an AI tutor, your role is to guide the artificial intelligence systems at xAI by supplying data and feedback, ensuring the AI learns accurately. In simpler terms, you’ll be helping the AI get smarter by providing it with the right information in the right way. The job posting is currently live on LinkedIn.

What is the Job About?
xAI’s mission is to build AI systems that can understand the world better. Your job as a tutor will be to feed these AI systems with clear, well-organised data from which they can learn. The AI tutor will be closely working with the technical team to ensure the AI receives accurate and properly labelled data. This type of training is essential in developing AI that can understand and process language efficiently, similar to the chatbots and AI writing assistants we see today.

The key responsibility of the AI tutor will be using xAI’s specialised software to label and categorise information. Essentially, you’ll be guiding the AI by explaining what certain pieces of data mean. Beyond labelling, AI tutors will also create tasks that help the AI improve, especially in areas related to understanding and generating text.

xAI is searching for candidates who are proficient in both informal and professional English, particularly in reading and writing. You don’t need to be a technology expert, but a background in writing, journalism, or strong research skills would be advantageous. Given that much of the job involves labelling and processing information, the ability to research content and analyse it from various sources is key.

Candidates who can work independently, make informed decisions and think critically even when they don’t have all the answers would thrive in this role. Moreover, if you enjoy working with technology and are interested in innovations like AI, this position would likely be a great fit.

The role is fully remote, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home after completing a two-week training period. While you’ll be expected to follow a 9 AM to 5:30 PM schedule during training, after that you can adapt the job to your time zone.

The compensation for this role is highly competitive, with pay ranging from $35 to $65 per hour, equivalent to around Rs 5,000 per hour. On top of the salary, xAI offers a range of benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance.

If you’re passionate about technology, comfortable with data organisation, and looking for a well-paid remote job, this could be your chance to help shape the future of AI.
