Top BJP leader and Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday lashed out at the Congress for aligning with All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) for the Assembly elections, saying that each vote Congress gets would help AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal to get closer to Dispur.

Addressing an election rally in Assam’s Biswanath, Sarma said, “Each vote to Congress would help Badruddin Ajmal get closer to Dispur. Congress had Mahatma Gandhi, Gopinath Bordoloi and Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan. Even Jyoti Prasad Agarwala was also associated with Congress during freedom struggle. But today, this party has joined hands with Badruddin Ajmal.”

The minister alleged that Congress has polluted the environment of the State by aligning with AIUDF.

“Each vote to Congress will weaken us, it will compel us to surrender ourselves to Ajmal,” Sarma predicted.

He also asserted that voting Congress-led grand alliance would even make the rhinos in Kaziranga unsafe.
