Diarrhea outbreak in Dibrugarh tea estate, 2 dead

It may be mentioned here that Mukalbari tea estate has emerged as the epicenter of diarrhea till now.

Massive outbreak of diarrhea at Mokalbari Tea Estate in Dibrugarh district has claimed the lives of two persons so far and left several others in serious conditions. The outbreak of the disease was reported around a week ago.

With cases of diarrhea continuing to escalate in the tea garden areas the district administration on Thursday directed the Public Health and Engineering Department to seal the drinking water sources at Mokalbari tea estate.

The initiative has been taken in a bid to stop the further spread of the disease and drinking water sources at Mukalbari tea estate will remain sealed till the water sources are declared safe for drinking.

 It may be mentioned here that Mukalbari tea estate has emerged as the epicenter of diarrhea till now.

As per sources, some patients are receiving treatment in the garden’s hospital, while some are being treated at Assam Medical College and Hospitals.
