Death toll in the recent wave of floods in Assam has mounted to 19. This comes after a 22 year old boy identified as Tafajjul Ali was washed away by flood waters in Telahi Jaanpar of Morigaon district.
According to state disaster management authority, the Dhansiri, Barak, Katakhal and Kushiyara rivers are flowing above the danger mark.
The worst affected districts are Nagaon, Hojai, Golaghat, Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj dsiricts.
A total of five lakh forty eight thousand nine hundred eighty six persons have been affected and a total of 719 villages are reeling under water.
Meanwhile, four hundred thirty seven relief camps have been set up in the state where a total of one lakh fifty nine thousand six hundred and fifty two inmates are taking shelter.
