Day before Mother’s day, 60-year-old woman set ablaze by son

The deceased has been identified as Veena Gogoi, the perpetrator identified as Manash Gogoi.

In a shocking incident, a 60-year-old woman succumbed to burn injuries after being set on fire by her son just a day before Mother’s Day in Assam’s Sivasagar district.

The incident unfolded on Saturday night in Amguri area.

The deceased has been identified as Veena Gogoi, the perpetrator identified as Manash Gogoi.

Following the horrific event, the Amguri police detained the perpetrator. However, the motive for the murder was unclear.

The villagers alleged that the son, who is an alcoholic, had been subjecting his mother to physical torture for an extended period.

The heinous act has left the residents stunned and lamenting the death of a beloved community member.
