The CPI (M) held a rally in Agartala on Friday in protest against the murder of its cadre, Benu Biswas, allegedly by ruling BJP supporters in Belonia on Thursday.
Hundreds of CPI (M) supporters took to the streets in the capital city and demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the crime.
Condemning the incident, former CPI (M) MP Sankar Prashad Datta alleged that Benu Biswas, who was an active member of the party from Belonia in southern Tripura, was murdered by goons backed by the ruling BJP.

CPI (M) state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury claimed that at least 23 CPI (M) leaders and supporters were murdered for political reasons in the 47 months of the BJP-IPFT rule in Tripura.
It may be mentioned that Benu Biswas was found lying in a critical condition on a road at Kamalpur village on Thursday night. He was later taken to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
