Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy has sought a CBI probe into the deaths of the two persons from Assam in Mizoram.
Roy raised the issue during the zero hour in Lok Sabha and appealed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah as soon as possible. It is to be noted that oil tanker driver Praveen Singh died in Aizawl in mysertifying circumstances.
Police arrested the handyman, Nipen Singh, on the charge of his murder. However, two days back, Nipen Singh reportedly committed suicide in police custody.
This led to protests in Assam’s Dholai near the Mizoram border where the families of the two deceased people, as well as locals, cried foul over the deaths and demanded a proper probe. Assam cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika also visited the bereaved family members and announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh to each family.
Citing of the gravity of the case, Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy laid the demand for a CBI probe into the matter yesterday at the parliament.
