The opposition Congress in Meghalaya has demanded the ruling MDA coalition government in the State to make its stand clear on the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

Briefing the media, senior Congress leader Ampareen Lyngdoh said that the Meghalaya Government should immediately convene an all-party meeting to discuss the matter.

Ampareen further lashed out at the State Government for its statement that the Meghalaya Resident Safety and Security Act is a remedy for any possible fallout of the Citizenship Bill.

Ampareen said that the MRSS amendment cannot be taken for granted as it is an ordinance which is yet to be implemented.
