K Meghachandra stated that the government should be held responsible for the crisis arising out of the ADC Bill row.
While the BJP-led government has defused the tension arising out of the ADC Bill row by reaching an agreement with the All Tribal Students Union Manipur, the opposition Congress party has taken a swipe at the government and blamed it for entire the crisis.
Speaking to Northeast Live on the sidelines of the commemoration of the Quit India Movement, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee President, K Meghachandra stated that the government should be held responsible for the crisis arising out of the ADC Bill row.
He added that the government should never give false commitments to the people as it is similar to inviting agitations.
It may be mentioned here that the government had signed an agreement with the ATSUM last November to introduce the draft ADC Bill, 2021 in the winter session of the previous legislative assembly.
It is also pertinent to mention here that ATSUM is yet to issue a statement on the lifting of the economic blockade even as the five arrested leaders were released last evening.
However, sources said that the vehicles that were earlier stranded along the highways have started coming in towards Imphal.
Meanwhile, during the commemoration of the Quit India Movement, CLP leader O Ibobi Singh along with MLAs, MPCC office bearers, and members offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and other freedom fighters and Congress leaders.
