From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Chief Ministers of Northeast to political leaders, and others, condolences poured in from all sides soon after the sudden demise of the founder of Shillong Chamber Choir Neil Nongkynrih.

Expressing his deepest condolence on the demise of the founder of Shillong Chamber Choir PM Modi stated that Neil Nongkynrih left us too soon.

The Prime Minister’s tweet read: “Mr. Neil Nongkynrih was an outstanding mentor to the Shillong Chamber Choir, which enthralled audiences globally. I have also witnessed some of their superb performances. He left us too soon. His creativity will always be remembered. Condolences to his family and admirers. RIP.”

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma too to Twitter and wrote, “I am saddened beyond words by the sudden demise of Padma Shri Neil Nongkynrih, founder of the famous Shillong Chamber Choir. He was a mentor to the country’s finest choir that serenaded crowds wherever they performed. We have lost a gem today.”

Meghalaya Governor Satyapal Malik also consoled the death of the legend. He wrote, “Deeply saddened by the news of passing away of the son of Meghalaya, the noted music composer Neil Nongkynrih, founder of Shillong Chamber Choir. May his soul rest in peace. I convey my deepest condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti.”

Meghalaya Transport Minister Dasakhiatbha Lamare wrote, “Heartfelt condolences on the passing away of Padma Shri Neil Nongkynrih, mentor cum founder of @shillongchamberchoir. I pray that Almighty gives the SCC family the strength to withstand this tragic moment and comfort them with their loss. May he rest in peace.”

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Deeply saddened by the news of demise of Neil Nongkynrih, the founder of Shillong Chamber Choir, in Mumbai this evening. Under his leadership, the Choir rose to great heights winning fame not only for Meghalaya but entire North East. May his soul rest in peace! “

Founder of Shillong Chamber Choir and music director Neil Nongkynrih breathed his last at a Mumbai hospital last evening. He was 51.

Nongkynrih was admitted to the Reliance Hospital in Mumbai.

Later, on Wednesday evening his health condition deteriorated. Padmi Shri winner Nongkynrih was in Mumbai with the Choir members in Mumbai since September.

According to relatives, Nongkynrih’s mortal remains will arrive in Shillong tomorrow and the funeral will be held on Saturday.

The sudden demise of Nongkynrih has shocked Shillongites and people from across the region.
