A team of the Opposition Congress led by former CM O Ibobi today submitted a memo to Governor Najma Heptulla on Monday asking her to convene a special assembly session to discuss the brewing issue of Citizenship Amendment Bill in the state.

Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhawan in Imphal, CLP leader O Iboibi informed media person that convening a special assembly will now take longer time, at least another 15 days as per the rules. He said it is high time to oppose the bill regardless of Opposition or Ruling.

Regardless of any party differences, the special Assembly session is need of the hours to take a resolution in the house to oppose the Bill unanimously.

The Congress will also seek to meet President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath urging them not to pass the bill doesn’t get in the Rajya Sabha.
