Central government has sanctioned 6.19 crore rupees for the development of rural areas of Nagaland.

The Finance ministry’s Finance Commission Division (FCD) has directed the chief controller of accounts to advise the Reserve Bank of India, Nagpur to credit the amount in to the account of the state government immediately.

The money in turn will be disbursed to the concerned local bodies and councils within 15 days of the receipt of funds from the Centre so that these local bodies can carry out the development work.

The State Planning department has been asked to ensure proper utilization of funds through proper monitoring of implementation of schemes and programmes in the state.

The push for rural development comes ahead of the Lok Sabha polls which is just months away.
