Union minister Nitin Gadkari said that the construction of these highway sections has the potential to improve connectivity to border regions and promote regional socioeconomic development

In another big boost to road infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh, the Union government on Tuesday sanctioned Rs 6621.62 crore for the construction of eight packages on National Highway-913, designated as the Frontier Highway in Arunachal Pradesh, said Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday.

This comprehensive project spans a total length of 265.49 Km and will be implemented through the engineering procurement and construction (EPC) mode.

The minister said that the project covers–two packages connect with the Bile-Migging Section; another two packages connect with the building of the Kharsang-Maio-Gandhigram-Vijaynagar Section; and the Bomdila-Nafra-Lada Section.

The minister said that the construction of these highway sections has the potential to improve connectivity to border regions and promote regional socioeconomic development.

The completion of the Frontier Highway will likely reduce migration and encourage reverse migration to Arunachal Pradesh’s border regions as the area develops and more economic possibilities arise.

Furthermore, these sections are vital for the creation of necessary road networks that link major river basins, which facilitates the growth of several hydropower projects in the state.

The Union Minister has also stated that this primarily greenfield route is intended to connect deserted and sparsely populated areas of Upper Arunachal, making it favorable to tourism and projecting a significant rise in traffic owing to increased tourism activities in the future.

Expressing gratitude to Union Minsiter Nitin Gadkari for fresh allocation to boost connectivity in the state, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the state is witnessing a new era of connectivity in border areas.

” Under visionary leadership of Hon PM Shri @narendramodi
