The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura, the main ally of the ruling BJP in Tripura, has announced that it would go solo in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to Northeast Live, IPFT assistant general secretary Mangal Debbarma said the party is preparing for the upcoming polls in full swing and that it is confident of a win.
Debbarma also stated that decision to field candidates in the two Lok Sabha seats was taken on March 3, which was followed by a central committee meeting of the IPFT.
Meanwhile, Debbarma also added that a five-member committee has been formed headed by IPFT president NC Debbarma to select candidates for the two seats.
The committee would also discuss on strategies of election campaign.
