A biopic based on the life of Olympic silver medalist Mirabai Chanu will be soon produced by a Manipur-based film production company.
Chanu won the country’s first silver medal in women’s 49 kg weightlifting event with a total lift of 202 kg at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics.
An agreement in this regard was signed on Saturday between Mirabai, her father and Imphal-based Seuti Films Production at her residence in Nongpok Kakching village in Imphal East district, a release issued by renowned playwright and the production company’s chairperson Manaobi MM said.
Mirabai said she is fortunate enough to have a film produced about her life will be to inspire the youths specially the budding sportspersons.
Manaobi MM said it will be a realistic film and a new face will be trained to act as Mirabai. The entire life of Mirabai beginning her early days in the village and the journey to the Olympics will be shown in the film.
The film will be directed by OC Meira, screenplay and dialogue will be written by Manaobi and produced by RK Nalini. The film will be dubbed in English and other major Indian languages.
