Operation Across Manipur: Security Forces Recover 24 Weapons and IEDs in 5 Days

In a major crackdown against illegal arms and explosives, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, in coordination with Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP, launched a series of joint operations across multiple districts of Manipur from 29 March to 03 April 2025.
The targeted operations were conducted in Churachandpur, Imphal West, Kangpokpi, Imphal East, and Bishnupur districts, resulting in the recovery of 24 weapons, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition, and other war-like stores.
On 30 March, the Indian Army and Manipur Police carried out a successful operation in the Thangjing Hill area of the Bishnupur district, recovering six weapons including bolt action rifles, a pistol, and pompis, along with ammunition.
A day later, on 31 March, acting on specific intelligence inputs about IEDs in Kaprang, Churachandpur, a joint team of the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, and Manipur Police launched an operation. Two IEDs weighing 2.3 kg, along with ammunition and other stores, were recovered and safely neutralized, ensuring the safety of local residents.
In Imphal West’s Sajirok area, on 1st April, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police recovered five weapons, including a 7.62 mm Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), a Single Bore Barrel Rifle (SBBL), and three pistols.
On April 3, with the recovery of five more weapons and ammunition from S Mongpi Ridge in Kangpokpi district. In a separate operation in Twichin, Imphal East, the Army recovered eight weapons including a 12 Bore SBBL and seven improvised mortars.
All recovered items have been handed over to Manipur Police for further investigation. These coordinated efforts underscore the security forces’ continued commitment to restoring peace and ensuring the safety of civilians in the state.
