The COCOMI on Friday met the top brass of the NSCN-IM including general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah at Camp Hebron.

COCOMI assistant coordinator Thongam Somorendro, informed that the meeting was held to talk solely on the issue of peaceful coexistence. He, however, did not gave much details of the meeting.

It was informed that 14 members of the COCOMI and 4 members of the TNFO were present at the meeting with Muivah.

The meeting comes almost three months after the crucial round of talks between the NSCN-IM and the Government of India, which broke the deadlock on the Naga political issue.

Earlier, members of the COCOMI had called on NSCN-IM’s self styled army chief Anthony Simray at Camp Hebron in November last year. Somorendro also said that such meetings will continue in the future.

The meetings come in close to the heels of the joint declaration signed between the KNO and the NNPGs to resolve their differences.

COCOMI, which led massive agitations in Manipur over the issue, has been making efforts to engage in dialogue and continued communication between the Meiteis and the Nagas while keeping the Naga peace talks in mind, that is affecting the socio-political scenario within the territory of Manipur.
