Bhutan King’s Assam visit Day 2: King to take a 30 jeep safari in Kaziranga National Park today

Arrangements have been made for 30 elephants for the King’s elephant safari tomorrow

King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, on the second day of his visit to Assam today would be visiting the world famous Kaziranga National Park. He would undertake a jeep safari today. Thirty jeeps would be part of the safari. He will take a break at the IORA resort.

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will be hosting a dinner in honour of the King in Kaziranga today.

Tomorrow the Bhutanese King, the first Bhutan monarch in 1,500 years to visit Assam, will undertake a 30 elephants safari in the park that is a UNESCO heritage site.

Yesterday, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma extended a warm welcome to the King at the Guwahati airport. The King is on a 3-day visit to Assam.

A cultural evening was organised by the CM in honour of the King and a dinner was hosted by Governor Gulab Chand Kataria.

Chief Minister Dr Sarma also held a meeting with the King along with members of his cabinet and held discussions on several issues related to Assam-Bhutan ties.

This visit by the Bhutan King is historic and momentous and promises to pave the way for an exemplary partnership between Bhutan and Assam and of course Bhutan and India.

The visit of the Bhutan King will provide an opportunity for both countries to review bilateral cooperation.

The King and his 20-member entourage will leave for New Delhi tomorrow from Jorhat. The King is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
