As many as 7 persons were critically injured when a Bailey bridge above the Manipur river at Wangoo connecting Manipur’s Boro Bekra and Gwakhal collapsed early this morning.

The bridge reportedly collapsed when a loaded truck with laborers on board was crossing the bridge.

7 people including the labourers received serious injuries in the incident.

The Jiri police immediately rushed to the spot and shifted the injured people to Jiribam district hospital with the help of locals.

It may be mentioned that the collapsed bridge was constructed 2 years ago under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana at an estimated cost of over Rs 4 lakh.
