Even as investigation continues into the sensational online trading scams, another major scam has come to light from Assam’s transport department.
As per inputs, Bongaigaon District Transport Officer (DTO) Deepak Patowary has been arrested on Sunday for registering vehicles in the name of Lakshadweep Transport Department.
Patowary was apprehended near Arya Hospital in Guwahati’s Rehabari area.
He has been arrested for registering over 400 vehicles in the name of Lakshadweep Transport.
All these vehicles have been registered with fake Lakshadweep registration numbers.
Notably, the scam has been exposed after a team of Bongaigaon Police led by the ASP conducted a raid and seized vehicles with fake registration numbers from Rehabari in Guwahati. Following this, DTO Patowary has been suspended.
