Assam: Picnic turns into tragedy, youth from Dhemaji drowns at Panimur waterfall in Dima Hasao

A picnic party at Panimur picnic spot in Umrangso of Dima Hasao district of Assam has turned into tragedy as a youth from Dhemaji district drowned after he went for a bath at the waterfalls.

The deceased boy has been identified as 19-year-old Sunu Deka from Dhemaji.

As per sources, a 30 members’ picnic party from Nagaon had gone to Panimur on Saturday (February 3).

While everyone was enjoying, Sunu Deka went to take bath down the Panimur waterfall. After some time he moved into deep water and started drowning in the water. Within minutes he disappeared.

Police and locals recovered Sunu Deka’s body today after searching for hours.

He was preparing for an engineering course at the Super 30 coaching centre, Uriya Gaon, in Nagaon district.
