At least nine cases of the Omicron variant have been detected in Assam so far. Of these, three patients have already tested negative and have been discharged.
Meanwhile, six patients are undergoing treatment. All the cases have been reported from Dibrugarh.

One patient identified as Altaf Hussain, who was undergoing treatment at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), tested negative and was discharged.
Another patient identified as Rohan Das, who was a returnee from Saudi Arabia, has also tested negative. This was informed by GMCH superintendent Dr. Abhijit Sharma.

Meanwhile, the Covid hotspots in Guwahati have also increased with the increase in Covid cases over the past few days.
Speaking on the matter, Dr. Abhijit Sharma said that areas like Chandmari and Rajgarh have emerged as hotspots in the last few days.
