A dedicated cop from Assam had to face the ire of an MLA only for performing his duty responsibly.

Instead of lauding the cop for his efforts to fight crime, the MLA is heard issuing life threats to the police official.

Audio clippings have gone viral where Bihpuria MLA Amiya Kumar Bhuyan is purportedly heard saying that 60, 000 electorates who have elected him will thrash the cop to death.

It all began when Bihpuria police station Officer-in-Charge Puspakamal Borah picked up a few suspected persons involved in vandalizing equipment of a construction agency.

The Bihpuria PS OC stated that police had swung into action after the filing of an FIR by the construction agency following which a few persons were picked up.

However, Bihpuria MLA Amiya Bhuyan took no time to call OC Puspa Kamal Borah asking the latter not to show ‘policegiri’ and rather be people-friendly. What is even more surprising is the fact that MLA Amiya Bhuyan in the audio clip is heard saying that the detention of the accused had hurt his dignity.

Reacting to the incident Bihpuria OC Puspa Kamal Borah stated that he is being threatened and has already taken up the matter with the concerned SP. He is also dejected over the fact that he had to face such a situation merely for performing his duties.

Surprisingly, MLA Amiya Bhuyan without any hesitation backed his action by saying that everyone should know their limit.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken strong exception to the incident. Chief Minister Sarma said that he has given some strong advice to the Bihpuria MLA and reminded that past trends must not be repeated.
