Unable to come to terms with what was happening to him, Krishna Orang Niji reportedly took the extreme step of ending his life.

In a shocking incident, a man in Khanamukh in Assam’s Sonitpur district died by suicide after allegedly being mentally and physically tortured by money lenders.

As per reports, a man identified as Krishna Orang Niji working as an employee at the Balipara Post Office had approached 5 money lenders for a loan that was to be returned with interest within the stipulated time frame.

However, Krishna Orang Niji reportedly failed the pay back the amount on time. Things came to such a pass that the compounded interest crossed the 1 lakh mark. Consequently, the 5 money lenders then seized Niji’s ATM, passbook, and motorcycle.

If that was not all, the angry money lenders allegedly subjected Krishna Orang Niji to mental harassment and even roughed him as well.

Unable to come to terms with what was happening to him, Krishna Orang Niji reportedly took the extreme step of ending his life.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged by the deceased’s wife at the Chariduar Police station and police have arrested 3 of the 5 accused so far while the remaining two are said to be still absconding.

The arrested persons have been identified as Anil Das, Mangin Khan, and Omar Ali Khan. Meanwhile, the remaining two individuals who are reportedly absconding have been identified as Azaad Khan and Aleenwaj Choudhury.

Meanwhile, Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika also condemned the incident and said stringent action as per law should be taken against such crimes.
