In yet another big step towards resolving the issue of unemployment in the state, the Assam government will distribute appointment letters to as many as 514 candidates today.
The applicants who cleared the same cut-off in the direct recruitment exam held in 2022 for Grades III and IV will receive their appointment letters today.
The appointment latters will be handed out by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at a mega letter distribution ceremony at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra at around 3 pm today.
On May 25, 2023, in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, 44,703 appointment letters were provided to the individuals who had cleared the direct recruitment exam.
However, a few positions remained unfilled since some of the selected applicants chose not to accept them. Due to this, the state government decided to fill the open positions using the recruitment commission’s merit lists.
The youths were recruited into 34 various departments including-the home department, health department, education department, social welfare, water resource department, Environment and Forest department.
It may be mentioned, that in the run-up to the 2021 Assam Assembly elections, the BJP had promised to give one lakh government jobs within one year of the formation of the government.
