An employee of the Assam Secretariat was arrested on charges of corruption. The employee, identified as Seema Devi, was arrested by the Vigilance Department after she was caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 4000.

Devi is a senior administrative assistant with the Plains Tribal Welfare Department. She was arrested in the D Block of the Assam Secretariat.
Apart from the Rs 4,000 amount that Devi took as a bribe, another amount of Rs 99,000 has been seized from her handbag.

Reportedly, she sought a bribe of Rs 10,000 for the regularisation of an ad hoc employee’s salary. Later, a Vigilance Cell team also conducted a search at the house of Seema Devi.
