The Assam government will provide Rs 830 per month each to 17 lakh families under the ambitious Orunodoi scheme. The families will receive the money from October 2.
Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said Orunodoi is a unique scheme for women which will empower them and will contribute toward economic development.
Sarma said that the finance department will implement the scheme and Rs 2,80,000 crore has been earmarked for the scheme.
Addressing a press meet in Guwahati, the finance minister said, “It will be the biggest scheme in Assam which will include 17 lakh families. The selection of beneficiaries will begin from August 17. The beneficiaries will receive the money in the first day of month.”
The money will be deposited to the bank account of a female family member.
