The Assam government has announced a 20 per cent bonus for all those workers who are working in Assam tea corporation gardens.

The corporation runs about 15 gardens across the state. About 16,000 workers are expected to get increased bonus ahead of the festive season.

Tea garden workers have been demanding 20 per cent bonus this season but the tea companies have been maintaining that they would be able to give only 8.33 per cent as bonus due to the deepening financial crisis in the tea sector.
