Assam government has released a fresh set of guidelines that come into effect from today. As per the new SOPs, classes up to 8th grade will be closed, whereas students in classes 9 and beyond will have to go to school every alternate day.

However, there is no change to the current curfew hours, which begin at 10 PM and end at 6 AM. At weddings or other religious functions, 50 per cent or 200 fully vaccinated people have been allowed.

Meanwhile, Assam witnessed a surge in its daily COVID cases on Monday after it reported a total of 5 thousand, nine hundred and two fresh COVID cases in the last 24 hours.

Out of these new cases, a total of 1,044 cases were reported from Kamrup Metropolitan district. Besides, Assam’s COVID positivity now stands at 10.44 percent. Besides, 18 COVID-related fatalities have been registered in the past 24 hours.
