Assam girl Ashmita Chaliha has been named by the Badminton Association of India to represent India in the Jakarta Asian Games from August 19 to 28.

Ashmita is part of the 20-member Indian badminton squad for the meet. Mallika Barua of Assam was part of the Indian badminton team 32 years back, in 1986.

On the other hand, Ningshi Block Hazarika will partner Kuhoo Garg of Uttarakhand in the women’s doubles in the Total BWF World Badminton Championship at Nanjing, China, from July 30.

Orijit Chaliha will play in the Badminton Asia Junior Championship at Jakarta from July 14.
