At a time when Assam is still mourning the demise of ASI Nirod Sarma of the CRPF in the Anantnag terror attack, yet another sad news of one more CRPF jawan from the State being martyred has been reported.

Sunil Kalita, a CRPF jawan was part of an operation against the Naxals at Kurchai in Saraikela district of Jharkhand on May 28 and was injured in an IED attack. 26 CRPF and Jharkhand Armed Police personnel were also injured in the attack.

The CRPF jawan attached with the 209 Cobra battalion later succumbed to his injuries on Thursday evening at the AIIMS in New Delhi.

Kalita’s body will reach Guwahati on Friday evening and the last rites will be performed with state honours on Saturday in Palar, Kamalpur. It was just two months back that Kalita had tied the knot.
