After much suspense, the Assam Congress has finally revealed the name of its candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections. The Congress will be fielding senior Congress leader Ripun Bora for the Rajya Sabha elections. Bora’s candidature was approved by AICC Interim President Sonia Gandhi.
Meanwhile, a crucial meet will take place tomorrow among all the opposition parties where they shall prepare strategy to ensure Bora’s victory in the Rajya Sabha polls. Reportedly, a three line whip will be issued to ensure no cross voting takes place.
Meanwhile, as per an understanding, the AIUDF will be supporting Congress in the elections this time around, whereas, the Congress will be lending its support to AIUDF candidate in the next term of Rajya Sabha elections.
The polls for Rajya Sabha are slated to be held on March 31.
