Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and health, finance, education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma conveyed their greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Bhogali Bihu.
Sonowal in a video statement urged people to celebrate Bihu with peace and amity. He also thanked the farmers for their hard work in strengthening the State economy.
Himanta Biswa Sarma also conveyed his warm wishes on the occasion of Magh Bihu Uruka.
“I wish everyone a happy Bhogali Bihu Uruka…,” Sarma tweeted.
Bhogali Bihu, the harvest festival holds special significance for every Assamese with people, particularly in semi-urban and rural pockets of the State, constructing bhela ghars based on various themes that have now become crowd-puller, catching the attention of all and sundry.
Meanwhile, markets witnessed hectic activity as people made last-minute purchases. Fish markets hogged all limelight as people made a beeline to them to get their choicest fish variety.
