The Assam Cabinet in its meeting on December 3 took several key decisions. Each minister of the Assam cabinet will be visiting Gorukhuti at an interval of ten days to take stock of the progress of multipurpose agriculture project coming up there.
The meet which was chaired by Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, decided that all the cabinet ministers will need to involve themselves with the mega agricultural project at Gorukhuti. It is to be remembered that Gorukhuti was recently in news over violence during an eviction drive.
Assam government also took the decision on giving out the first set of civilian awards next year. The awards will be Assam Vaibhav, Assam Sourav, and Assam Gaurav.
The State Cabinet also decided to construct two new medical colleges —one in Biswanath and the other in Charaideo. The loan amount for the Biswanath Medical College is Rs 564 crore, and that of Charaideo is Rs 557 crore is funded from NABARD.
It was also decied that EVMs will be used for Municipal elections in Assam. The Cabinet also decided to allocate Rs 480 crore to reduce electricity tariffs of the BPL families.
