The Budget session of the Assam Assembly has begun today. The session will have 11 working days. At least 13 key bills will be tabled during the 19-day session which will conclude on April 1. Finance minister Ajanta Neog will table the budget on March 16.

The session began with the address of Governor Jagdish Mukhi. In his address, Governor Mukhi lauded the efforts of the Assam Government in ending the era of insurgency and fighting the drug menace.

Interestingly, in a first-of-its-kind initiative, the MLAs were brought in special golf cars to the assembly premises.

Meanwhile, newly elected from Majuli  MLA BJP’s Bhuban Gam took oath during the ongoing budget session.
