Assam boxer Lovlina Borgohain has qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, becoming the third Indian and the first woman boxer from the state to grab the Olympic ticket.
Lovlina secured the Olympic berth by defeating Uzbekistan’s Maftunakhon Melieva in the 69 kg category of quarter final bout in the Asia-Oceania Olympic boxing qualifiers at Amman in Jordan on Sunday.
It may be mentioned that five Indian boxers secured Tokyo Olympic berths on Sunday by advancing to the semifinals of the Asian Qualifiers with contrasting quarterfinal victories.
