Assam: BJP-led NDA Wins 33 Seats out of 36 Seats in RHAC elections, Congress Faces Crushing Defeat

The opposition Congress was reduced to a solitary seat, while independent candidates secured the remaining two.
In a decisive political showdown, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a landslide victory in Assam’s Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) elections, winning 33 out of 36 seats.
The opposition Congress was reduced to a solitary seat, while independent candidates secured the remaining two.
According to the results declared by the Assam State Election Commission, BJP won 6 seats while its ally party Rabha Hasong Jautho Sangraam Samiti won 27 seats.
Taking to X, Assam Chief Minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Another Saffron Wave in Assam! Our heartfelt gratitude to the people of Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council for speaking in unison and endorsing Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Shri @narendramodi Ji’s welfare policies, particularly for the indigenous communities. NDA has won 33/36 seats.”
Meanwhile, on April 2, the Assam State Election Commission announced the schedule for the Panchayat elections in the state, which will be conducted in two phases across 27 districts on May 2 and May 7.
The first phase will cover the districts of Upper Assam and Barak Valley including Cachar, Hailakandi, Sribhumi, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sivasagar, Majuli, Jorhat, Golaghat, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Sonitpur.
The second phase will cover districts including Dhubri, South Salmara Mankachar, Goalpara, Bongaigaon, Barpeta, Bajali, Nalbari, Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), Hojai, Nagaon, Morigaon and Darrang.
The votes will be counted on May 11.
