Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have agreed to settle border disputes across the table. This was informed by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu who was giving his first reactions to the recent unrest in the Ranga Reserve Forest along the Assam-Arunachal border.
Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Khandu termed the incident as unfortunate and added that he immediately had a conversation with Assam counterpart Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
He further informed that both the state governments are ready to settle down the border dispute across the table. Chief Minister Khandu also said that in case any such incident happens in the future, the issue should be taken up at the DC level immediately.
Chief Minister Khandu also informed that he will be calling on Chief Minister Sarma soon.
The incident at Ranga Reserve Forest occurred when personnel from Assam Forest Department had visited the reserve forest area to inspect the alleged sites of inspection.
They were allegedly held against their will by the locals for nearly two hours which was later denied by ZPM of the area from Arunachal Pradesh.
