Police have arrested an Assam Civil Service official in connection to a land scam under the Land Port Authority. Nabarun Bhattacharya, the suspended Cachar District Development Commissioner and former Karimganj
Police have arrested an Assam Civil Service official in connection to a land scam under the Land Port Authority.
Nabarun Bhattacharya, the suspended Cachar District Development Commissioner and former Karimganj ADC who had been on the run, surrendered before Karimganj Police Sunday night. He was later taken into custody.
Police had earlier arrested former Karimganj Deputy Commissioner Pradip Kumar Talukdar from Guwahati.
The Deputy Commissioner has been linked with the land grabbing scam at Sutarkandi under the Land Port Authority.
The arrested officials had allegedly forged land documents while procuring land for expanding the Sutarkandi trade centre in Karimganj depriving genuing land owners.
