The State Election Commission (SEC) in Arunachal Pradesh is all set to conduct the panchayat and municipal elections simultaneously in a single phase on December 22.
State Election Commissioner Hage Kojeen informed that the Commission is fully prepared from all angles along with security and Covid protocols in place.
The Commissioner informed that out of the total 2,259 polling stations, voting for the local body elections will take place in 1,472 polling stations. More than 10,000 polling personnel will be deployed for conduct of free and fair elections.
In the panchayat, as many as 141 Zila Parishad constituencies and 1,702 GP seats will go to polls.
Out of the total 7,65,000 electorates, 4,89,423 are eligible to exercise their franchise in the ensuing polls.
The SEC also informed that the Election for 4-Hawai North Zila Parishad seat in Anjaw district which was deferred for court judgment would conduct polling in the seat on January 11 next. However, elections to the Vijoynagar ZP seat have been kept in abeyance by the Commission due to law and order situation.
